Please keep in mind that most ice in lower Michigan is going to be unsafe, even if you find some. Don’t tempt fate. This fishing report is a work in progress. Hopefully we can grow this to include popular regions across the state. But in lieu of that, here are reports on four West Michigan rivers.
Manistee River
Batcke’s Manistee River Lodge reports that fishing has been really good lately. The recent rain brought some needed water into the system. Lots of things were productive, beads, stone flies, streamers. Should be a good weekend for steelhead on the river. Check out their website here. You can also check out the current water flow here.
Grand River
Brenner’s reports 6th street in Grand Rapids had some steelhead being caught. With the rising water from the rain the past couple of days,
Muskegon River
Croton Bay Trading Post reports that walleye, steelhead, and rainbow trout have been caught in the past week or so down at the Croton Dam, near Newaygo.
Rogue River
The Rogue River in Rockford is high and stained due to all of the rain of the past few days. Glen with Great Lakes Fly Fishing Co says that some fish have been caught, but there aren’t many steelhead in the system.
